Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is rewriting long-held box office assumptions, emerging as a rare theatrical phenomenon whose momentum shows no signs of easing even deep into its second week. The Ranveer Singh-led spy thriller has delivered an extraordinary performance on its second Monday, a day that traditionally signals a noticeable slowdown for most big releases.
By midday, collections on Monday had already surpassed every weekday figure from the previous week, with the film even running ahead of its second Friday. While evening and night shows are expected to soften marginally—given that Fridays typically benefit from post-work footfalls—the overall trajectory remains exceptional. Trade estimates suggest the film will comfortably collect over ₹25 crore nett for the day, with a strong possibility of pushing close to ₹30 crore nett, depending on late-show occupancy.

If that milestone is achieved, Dhurandhar will register yet another daily record, overtaking the previous second-Monday benchmark of ₹19 crore nett held by Pushpa 2 (Hindi) by a substantial margin. Notably, the film has already set new records for second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday collections, establishing itself as the biggest second-week performer among Indian films.
Why the Film Is Defying Gravity
One of the key factors shaping Dhurandhar’s unusual box office pattern is its extended runtime of over three hours. The length restricts the total number of daily shows and compresses viewing into limited time slots. As a result, prime-time screenings across major centres are running at near-full capacity, while demand remains partially unfulfilled during early and late hours.
This was evident over the second weekend, when advance bookings suggested even higher numbers than what the final tally reflected. That unmet demand is now spilling over into the weekdays, keeping collections buoyant. Simultaneously, the film’s cultural footprint continues to expand, with growing mainstream media attention and word-of-mouth pushing it beyond the confines of a conventional theatrical release.
Massive Second-Week Gains and Long-Term Outlook
The film was already expected to cross ₹200 crore nett in its second week, but the exceptional hold on Monday has accelerated that journey. Trade projections now place the second-week total closer to ₹225 crore nett. With this pace, the ₹600 crore nett lifetime mark appears virtually assured, while the previously ambitious ₹700 crore nett milestone is increasingly within reach.
The road ahead will not be without challenges, particularly with Avatar 3 entering the marketplace next week. However, given its current trajectory, Dhurandhar has built a buffer strong enough to absorb competitive pressure.
Domestic and Global Performance
Globally, the film crossed the ₹500 crore mark on its tenth day, as confirmed by the makers. It has collected ₹430.20 crore gross in India and ₹120.50 crore gross overseas, taking its worldwide total to ₹552.70 crore gross.
In India, the film opened with ₹28.60 crore nett on Day 1, followed by ₹33.10 crore on Day 2 and ₹44.80 crore on Day 3. While collections dipped to ₹24.30 crore nett on the first Monday, the film regained momentum through the week, earning ₹28.60 crore on Tuesday, ₹29.20 crore on Wednesday, and ₹29.40 crore on Thursday. The second Friday saw a sharp jump to ₹34.70 crore nett, followed by a stellar second weekend—₹53.70 crore on Saturday and ₹58.20 crore on Sunday.
With total domestic earnings now standing at ₹364.60 crore nett, Dhurandhar has officially surpassed Pushpa 2 to become the highest second-weekend grosser in Indian cinema.
Reacting to the milestone, Jio Studios posted on X: “The story of The Unknown Men is now known globally.”
