Amazon Original Movie Coming 2 America is all set to tickle our funny bones – the film has a global premiere on March 5, 2021.
Not only is it a cult comedy, Coming 2 America stars some of the legendary actors including Eddie Murphy, James Earl Jones, Arsenio Hall, among others.
As these actors are all geared up to reprise their roles in the sequel to Coming To America (1988), actor James Earl Jones notes, “Of the countless roles I’ve played, King Jaffe Joffer remains one of the most enjoyable and iconic characters I’ve had the pleasure of portraying.”

Adding further to his excitement James says, “With his regal and commanding presence as the ruler of Zamunda, I reveled at bringing King Joffer to life for Coming To America in 1988. And now, over 30 years later, I am honored to reprise my role for Coming 2 America. It means the world to me to be a part of this beloved franchise.” He continues, “Working with Eddie Murphy has been an indelible experience. This powerful cast, both reuniting the original and welcoming the newcomers, represents the essence of Black royalty.”
Arsenio Hall, who will be once again seen as Semmi in the sequel, believes that not much has changed for his character in all these years. He says, “The thing I love about playing Semmi is that he’s so totally different from me. We have different egos and dispositions toward life. Semmi is that guy who’s always around and even though he’s a pain, no one ever thinks about getting rid of him. Everybody’s definitely on his case, though.”
Directed by Craig Brewer, Coming 2 America will see the newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure.
The Amazon Original Movie is all set to release globally on March 5th 2021, while the original title Coming To America is already available on the service for streaming.
