Directed by Dileesh Pothan and written by Syam Pushkaran, Joji is produced by Bhavana Studios in association with Fahadh Faasil and Friends & Working Class Hero.
The much-awaiting crime drama features Fahadh Faasil alongside Baburaj, Shammi Thilakan, Alistair Alex, and Unnimaya Prasad, Basil Joseph, and Sunny PN in prominent roles.
Amazon Original Movie Joji’s trailer has been receiving an overwhelming response for promising yet another intriguing tale by the successful trio – Actor Fahadh Faasil, Director Dileesh Pothan, and Writer Syam Pushkaran. Apart from giving a fresh and modern twist to the world-famous tragedy, William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Joji also brings a truly contemporary touch to the narrative! Joji is a story of greed and power set in the COVID era, becoming one of the first Malayalam films to be set in pandemics.

Interestingly, the seed of film was also sowed during these unprecedented times. “During the lockdown time, thoughts and discussions about the new movie was very much alive. There were regulations all over and we were worried about how long the pandemic will stay and how it will affect the shooting process. We thought about the stories in confined spaces rather than on a vast canvas,” said Dileesh, who along with writer Syam Pushkaran, began working on the script inspired by Macbeth.
When asked about weaving COVID in the film’s plot, he added, “How can we not mention COVID while we are telling a story that takes place in 2021?” The film’s shoot began in November 2020 and was completed in 65 days. It was shot in Erumeli of Kottayam District in Kerala.”
Speaking of the overall experience of shooting in the pandemic, Dileesh said, “Unlike other sets, everyone seemed to be in some kind of tension and pressure about the pandemic. Everyone just focussed on their work and tried to finish it off without getting effected. The concentration was to execute the shoot effectively with no space for negligence.”
Adding further about the challenges of shooting in the pandemic, he continued, “COVID definitely was one of the biggest challenges, right from the pre-production stage. Even at the discussion phase, we couldn’t travel or meet up often. The whole team stayed together for a long period throughout the process.”
“Film making earlier involved the close interaction with the actors and the crew. Protocols completely changed the scenario. We were supposed to maintain a safe distance even while explaining a scene to the cast or communicating with the crew. The technical crew were supposed to sanitize the equipment before handing over to his assistants or associates. Film making amidst laid down protocols was a first-time experience.”
From regular temperature checks on daily basis, crew quarantining after the shoot hours, RTPCR testing for everyone joining the camp, the whole team was determined and co-operated to keep COVID out of the sets and successfully complete the shoot.
Set in contemporary times, the movie’s story revolves around Joji, an engineering dropout and the youngest son of the rich plantation family who lives with his aspirations of becoming a super wealthy NRI. But his father sees down on him and thinks of him as nothing more than a loser. Driven by greed and blind ambition, Joji finally decides to execute his plans following an unexpected event in the family.
Joji is now available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in India and across 240 countries and territories.

Speaking about her experience while shooting for the film, Amruta says, “Well Done Baby is a very special story. It makes one look at relationships with a very different lens. It also made me understand how every decision taken by us, affects our lives and sees our relationships evolve at the same time. My character in the movie is quite similar to me. I could relate to her very well and this helped me portray her in the movie better.”
Directed by debutant Priyanka Tanwar the family drama follows the life of a young couple who are in a complicated marriage and find out that they are pregnant. Well Done Baby premieres exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in India on April 9.

The movie industry is possibly one of the most impactful fields of contemporary society which reflects the existing translation of opinions in our world. There have been visionary makers who have contributed to this change of thought.
One such duo creator who have recently attempted something which Indian audience have never seen before is none other than the debutant duo creators Pooja Shetty and Neil Pageder- The makers of India’s first Sci-fi comedy-thriller OK computer.![]()
Mentored by the visionary filmmaker Anand Gandhi, Pooja and Neil have come up with a uniquely impressionistic mood piece!
A very close source to the makers shared that, “The series has received appreciations from the different quarters who love potentially meaty and futuristic ideas, like a robot meant to save humanity, a robot choosing to perform stand-up comedy, and the member of a cult making her teenage daughter sign a nondisclosure agreement.”
“With just their first project OK computer, Pooja and Neil have jump-started a dialogue around India’s first sci-fi comedy thriller. Triggering the minds of the viewers with the importance of AI in our lives, Pooja and Neil’s vision has blown everyone away, marking it as the most-watched film for the week across platforms”, added the source
OK Computer is an unconventional series that focuses on the battle between ideologies – for and against technology and poses the larger question of ‘Has AI which was created by humans, and which humans came to rely on, now stopped being a boon and has instead begun to be annoying, overpowering or harmful?’

Madmidaas Films has recently wrapped up the shoot of its 6 films anthology series boosting of an exciting ensemble cast featuring Vinay Pathak, Soni Razdan, Gauahar Khan, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo, Sharib Hashmi, Hussain Dalal, Priyanshu Painyuli, Sadia Siddiqui, and Tanmay Dhananya amongst others.
The series titled ‘Kaali Peeli Tales’ captures the essence of love, relationships, and life in Mumbai and covers complex themes from infidelity, open marriage, homosexuality, commitment phobia, divorce to many others. All films are written and directed by Adeeb Rais, formerly known for award-winning short films – ‘Aunty ji’ starring Shabana Azmi, Baatein starring Supriya Pilgaonkar, a web series ‘Yeh Crazy Dil’ starring Zoa Morani, Lilette Dubey.
Adeeb says, “Each film has come from a very special place of my heart and has something unique to say. We haven’t shied away from bringing few important topics and showcasing some rather complex relationships through the films. Each of the films end in an iconic Mumbai black and yellow (kaali peeli) taxi and that is a metaphor for the journey of life, which works as a common thread between each of the six films. Within the anthology, we’ve covered a gamut of emotions and showcased a mix of both relatable and slightly off beat characters. There’s something for everyone to take home from this series.”
When asked about the impressive line of up actors, Adeeb further adds, “Honestly, each of them are actors I personally love and admire and wished to work with. The fact that they have a huge following is just an add on. I have a personal equation with each of them and what connected them to the project was the purity in my intention behind telling each of the stories. They have all been very kind, supportive and I couldn’t feel more grateful. I can also vouch each of their fans are going to be very happy and satisfied with their performances. Figuring dates and logistics were a bit tricky at times, but eventually, things fell into place and it all feels really worth it. I’m currently enjoying my last leg of post-production and really excited to share our baby with the rest of the world. It’s purely all heart.”

Ridhi Dogra, who is glowing with all the accolades for her dazzling performance as the central character – Astha in ALTBalaji’s most talked-about-show ‘The Married Woman’, had initially refused the offer. Yes, you read it right!
In a recent interview, the show’s producer and Content Czarina – Ekta Kapoor revealed, “The first time I sent the script of ‘The Married Woman’ to Ridhi, she told me that she doesn’t want to do the show since it talks about a same-sex relationship and I am very scared on how it portrays women. I told her that I am personally involved in this show. Then the show’s director, Sahir Raza, came into the picture, and he is one of the most interesting men I have met, he is a feminist and comes from a great lineage. He asked me how will we normalize two women if we don’t show them kissing, hugging, or holding each other. I told him that it should not look sleazy since I have made this show from the heart, and I want it to come out real, and he said leave it to me. The idea was to normalize it on the one hand and the other not make it provocative for men or for anybody to find it exciting in a way that is not relatable.”
On her part, Ridhi Dogra added, “I think I had read the first draft of the show, which we were not supposed to since that wasn’t the final one. The sensitivity that all of them had, including Ekta and the show’s creative team, came on board had put me at ease. I met Sahir after lockdown, and we spoke about the show and our respective characters and the world that they were going to create. There was a lot of responsibility, and everything happened with a sensitivity that I don’t think there came a day when I doubted my decision to be part of the show after that. I was excited that a bunch of really creative people, have got together to make this beautiful show, and not letting anything go off-tone, even during rehearsals. So I think it’s all of us coming together and kudos to Ekta Kapoor for bringing us together!”
Astha is the perfect wife, daughter, mother, and teacher. She never strays from the path shown to her by society and family. It inhibits her from attaining her full potential in her career, as a person, and as a woman. Her goodness is so apparent that you will fall in love with the character, Astha the minute you are introduced to her.
The series adapted from Manju Kapur’s novel, ‘A Married Woman’ addresses various other social issues and taboos that people don’t see fit for day-to-day conversation. Present in subtle forms in almost all sections of society, making it an essential series to find solutions to all kinds of discrimination.
Starring in the series is Monica Dogra and Ridhi Dogra. Along with these two incredible women, there is Suhaas Ahuja, Imaad Shah, and various others.
‘The Married Woman’ is a must-watch binge-worthy show currently streaming on ALTBalaji!
