Ananya Panday has reportedly stepped away from Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming sci-fi rom-com Choomantar due to a major scheduling overlap with Call Me Bae Season 2. The actress, who is currently promoting her Kartik Aaryan starrer Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, has been navigating one of her busiest phases across film and streaming.
According to Mid-Day, Choomantar was gearing up for a January 2026 shoot. The dates directly clashed with Panday’s confirmed schedule for the second season of Call Me Bae, which has already commenced production. A source told the publication that the decision to part ways was mutual, with both sides open to collaborating again in the future.
With Panday’s exit, the makers quickly moved to restructure the cast. Janki Bodiwala and actress Sreeleela are now the leading contenders to star opposite actor Abhay Verma. A mock shoot featuring the new lineup reportedly took place last week, and workshops for the final casting phase are expected to begin soon. Directed by Dhak Dhak filmmaker Tarun Dudeja, Choomantar blends sci-fi, romance and comedy, positioning it as an experimental addition to Maddock Films’ slate.
Meanwhile, Panday remains in a high-visibility phase of her career. She is preparing for Chand Mera Dil with Lakshya and gearing up for her return as Bae in Call Me Bae Season 2.
Panday may be out of Choomantar, but her calendar remains packed—and her momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
