Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan will headline “Be Happy”, a forthcoming Amazon Original movie helmed by renowned choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’Souza. Streaming giant Prime Video announced the project on Saturday, revealing a captivating first-look poster of the much-anticipated film. The announcement, timed perfectly with International Daughter’s Day, also highlighted the father-daughter bond that forms the core of the story.

The poster, which was shared across Prime Video’s social media platforms, showcases Bachchan alongside child actress Inayat Verma. Known for her impressive roles in films like Ludo (2020), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (2023), and Shabaash Mithu (2022), Verma will portray Bachchan’s daughter in the film. The visually striking poster shows the duo suspended mid-air, intertwined in aerial silks, as if in the middle of an elegant contemporary dance performance. Bachchan is dressed in an all-black outfit, while Verma wears a delicate white frock, offering a hint of the film’s dance-centric theme.

Be Happy: A Journey of Dreams and Dedication

The film’s official synopsis, describes “Be Happy” as the heartwarming journey of Shiv Rastogi (played by Abhishek Bachchan), a devoted single father, and his talented daughter, portrayed by Inayat Verma. Together, they navigate their shared dream of competing in the country’s biggest dance reality show, confronting both personal and professional challenges along the way. The emotional depth of their bond, combined with a strong dance narrative, promises to resonate with audiences across age groups.

In addition to Abhishek and Inayat, the film will feature a stellar ensemble cast, including Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, dancer and actress Nora Fatehi, veteran comedian Johny Lever, and the versatile Nassar. Remo D’Souza has co-developed the screenplay with Kanishka Singh Deo, Chirag Garg, and Tushar Hiranandani, while the music will be composed by Harsh Upadhyay.

A New Chapter in the ABCD Franchise?

While “Be Happy” appears to be a standalone father-daughter story, reports suggest that it may be the third installment in Remo D’Souza’s popular ABCD: Anybody Can Dance film series. The original ABCD movie, released in 2013, was the first Indian film in 3D to explore the art of dance, featuring Prabhu Deva, Ganesh Acharya, and Kay Kay Menon. Its 2015 sequel, ABCD 2, starred Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, and Prabhu Deva once again, captivating audiences with its vibrant choreography and inspiring storyline.

If Be Happy does indeed connect to the ABCD universe, it will mark a significant shift in tone and narrative, focusing more on family, emotional growth, and a father’s unconditional love rather than just the dance competition itself.

Abhishek Bachchan: A Stellar Year Ahead

With Be Happy set to premiere on Prime Video in October, 2024 is shaping up to be a busy year for Abhishek Bachchan. Alongside this heartwarming dance drama, the actor is also slated to appear in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film King, where he will take on a villainous role opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.

Be Happy marks another collaboration between Bachchan and Prime Video, following the success of Breathe: Into the Shadows, where his intense portrayal of a troubled father was met with acclaim. In Be Happy, he shifts gears to play a nurturing and supportive father, once again exploring the complexities of parenthood on screen.

A Father-Daughter Tale Like No Other

Speaking about the film, Remo D’Souza said, “I am delighted to offer our viewers a first look with a beautiful poster that exemplifies the father-daughter bond that is the foundation of the story. What better day to do it than International Daughter’s Day?” He added, “I strongly believe that viewers will connect with the emotional yet light-hearted narrative. I look forward to audiences across the world experiencing this heartwarming story when it premieres on Prime Video.”

D’Souza, known for his elaborate dance sequences and choreography, has promised a blend of high-octane performances and touching emotional moments in Be Happy.
