Ahaan Panday is stepping into a markedly different space with his next film, moving away from his earlier romantic image into a more rugged, action-driven territory. Teaming up with Sharvari under the direction of Ali Abbas Zafar, the upcoming project is currently being shot in Mumbai and is shaping up as a high-energy action drama with a strong narrative core.
Before heading overseas, the makers have lined up a crucial song sequence scheduled between April 18 and 21. Unlike conventional Bollywood song breaks, this track is designed to be tightly integrated into the storyline. Industry sources indicate that the number will carry a distinct edge, reflecting the protagonist’s personality and advancing the plot rather than pausing it.
Choreographed by Tejaswi Shetty, the sequence is expected to lean heavily on performance and physicality. The focus is less on stylised dance and more on attitude, movement, and screen presence—elements that align with Ahaan’s character arc. The idea, as per insiders, is to let body language and intensity define the moment, making it an extension of the narrative rather than a standalone spectacle.
Following the Mumbai leg, the production will shift to the UK for an extensive two-month schedule. A significant portion of the film’s action and dramatic sequences will be shot there, indicating a broader scale and international setting. The overseas schedule is expected to be demanding, with elaborate action set-pieces forming a key part of the film.
One of the most talked-about aspects of the project is Ahaan Panday’s transformation. After gaining attention for his lover-boy persona in Saiyaara, the actor is set to surprise audiences with a gangster avatar. Reports suggest that he has undergone rigorous training to bring authenticity and rawness to the role, signalling a deliberate shift in his on-screen identity.
The film also marks the addition of Jimmy Shergill in a pivotal role. Notably, this project reunites him with Yash Raj Films after nearly two decades, adding another layer of interest for industry watchers.
Production for the film began on April 3 in Mumbai, and with a packed schedule ahead, the team is aiming to wrap up shooting by early 2027. While further details about the plot remain under wraps, the film is already generating buzz for its scale, casting, and Ahaan Panday’s striking reinvention.
