Following a period of delays and uncertainty, the untitled spy comedy featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan has now regained momentum and is progressing toward completion. The film, backed by producers Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, has reportedly regained momentum over the past couple of months after experiencing delays following its initial schedule in 2024.
According to Mid-Day reports, the lead actors recently wrapped up an extensive shooting schedule in Mumbai during February. One of the highlights of the schedule was a large-scale song sequence that required elaborate staging and choreography.
The track, reportedly titled “Jai Hind,” is designed around an Independence Day celebration and parade set in Delhi. Initially, first-time director Aakash Kaushik had planned to shoot the song at real locations across Delhi and Mumbai. However, when logistical challenges prevented that plan from materialising, the makers opted to recreate the setting on a grand set at Madh Island in Mumbai.
The song sequence was mounted on a massive scale, with more than 700 dancers and junior artistes participating to recreate the energy of a vibrant Independence Day parade. According to sources, the patriotic number appears at a crucial moment in the film’s narrative and is expected to add a colourful and celebratory element to the spy comedy.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan reportedly completed filming the elaborate sequence over the course of two days.
The film still has one final element left to shoot—an end-credit song. Once that sequence is filmed, director Aakash Kaushik is expected to wrap production on the project.
Although the film’s title has not yet been revealed, the makers are reportedly targeting a mid-2026 theatrical release. The project has already generated curiosity among audiences, particularly because it brings together Ayushmann and Sara in a spy comedy—a genre both actors are exploring together for the first time.
