As artificial intelligence begins to influence design processes, the question of how human intuition, emotion, and cultural understanding shape creativity is gaining new relevance. Reflecting on this intersection, Pearl Academy’s upcoming student showcase “C’est Magnifique fAIntastique” explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Intelligence (HI) can coexist within the creative journey.
The presentation will take place at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI under the First Cut platform on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at noon.
First Cut is an initiative by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Pearl Academy that places emerging designers alongside established industry names on a prominent fashion stage. Designed to spotlight young talent, the platform offers students the opportunity to present their ideas within the professional context of a major fashion showcase.
Each year, the showcase is built around a theme drawn from contemporary realities. Through their collections, the young designers interpret events, ideas, and cultural shifts shaping the present moment, translating them into fashion narratives that reflect the evolving world around them.
This year’s theme, “C’est Magnifique fAIntastique,” examines the dynamic relationship between AI and human creativity. While artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a tool within the design process, the showcase emphasizes that human intelligence continues to define intention, craftsmanship, cultural relevance, and emotional depth in fashion.
The presentation unfolds through three distinct chapters, each exploring a different dimension of magnificence.
Magnificent as Mastery highlights precision, skill, and craftsmanship in design.
Magnificent as Meaning focuses on cultural context and emotional resonance.
Magnificent as Grandeur & Scale celebrates bold ideas, ambition, and expansive creative vision.
Bringing together student voices from diverse disciplines at Pearl Academy, the showcase aims to question and redefine what meaningful contemporary fashion looks like in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven landscape.
