A fresh dose of festive drama is on its way, with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor coming together once again in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan and backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film promises a heady mix of love, drama, comedy, and wedding extravagance. The makers unveiled a lively motion poster on Monday, hinting at a colourful rom-com with a mischievous twist.

The poster introduced Varun and Janhvi as “two heart-breakers with one wicked plan.” They are joined by Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf, who bring further intrigue to the story. The visuals showcase the ensemble in a wedding backdrop, teasing audiences with festive energy and complicated relationships.

Adding to the buzz, the cast recently sported T-shirts with cryptic descriptions of their characters. Varun’s read, “Sunny. Loves Bantu, wants Bantu,” while Janhvi’s said, “Tulsi. Loves Sunny, wants Vikram.” Sanya’s character, Ananya, was revealed as being caught between Sunny and Vikram, whose own shirt declared, “Vikram. Loves Tulsi, wants Ananya.” These hints suggest a tangled web of affection and confusion, reminiscent of Khaitan’s earlier successes Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

Slated for release on October 2, 2025, during the Dussehra weekend, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is positioned as a big-screen festive entertainer in line with Bollywood’s beloved rom-com tradition. Early reactions, however, have been mixed. While some fans are thrilled to see Varun and Janhvi’s pairing again, others feel Varun is repeating roles too similar to his past films. A section of viewers has also expressed disappointment at seeing an actor of Sanya Malhotra’s calibre in a relatively limited role.

Despite the divided opinions, the film bears all the hallmarks of a Dharma production—lavish sets, colourful song-and-dance sequences, and a chaotic love story. Whether it delivers the freshness audiences crave or falls into familiar territory remains to be seen. For now, all eyes are on the teaser, which drops on August 28 ahead of its grand Dussehra release.
