Shah Rukh Khan is once again stepping into the action arena — this time with a darker edge. The superstar, fresh off the success of Pathaan and Jawan, has begun shooting his next big action thriller King, directed by Siddharth Anand. Known for crafting high-octane spectacles, Anand is now steering SRK into grittier territory, with the film promising a raw, intense narrative anchored by explosive action.
Filming is underway at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios, where Khan recently began shooting a pivotal sequence set inside a foreign prison. Designed as a key moment in the story, the scene features SRK’s character — a skilled assassin — engaging in a brutal fight against a gang of inmates. To execute this large-scale action set-piece, the team brought in three international stunt coordinators and assembled nearly 200 stunt performers for the June 15 shoot.
According to insiders, the jail sequence plays a crucial role in establishing the protagonist’s lethal abilities. SRK, who portrays a shadowy figure from the underworld, has been undergoing extensive physical prep to deliver convincingly on the physical demands of the role.
King also marks the highly anticipated big-screen debut of Suhana Khan. Cast as the assassin’s protégé, she plays a young trainee gearing up for deadly missions of her own. The real-life father-daughter dynamic is expected to lend emotional complexity to the film’s otherwise adrenaline-fueled narrative.
Abhishek Bachchan, cast as the film’s primary antagonist, is yet to join the shoot, keeping fans eagerly awaiting the inevitable clash between his character and SRK’s. The confrontation is being saved for a future schedule, heightening anticipation.
Continuing his signature flair, Siddharth Anand is building King as a globe-trotting action epic with cutting-edge stunt design, multiple international locations, and stylized set pieces that aim to match global cinematic standards. The production is expected to span 100 shooting days across various countries.
Musically, the film features compositions by the hit duo Sachin–Jigar, while Anirudh Ravichander handles the background score — a team-up expected to elevate both the emotional and action-driven moments of the film.
With the jail sequence scheduled to wrap by June 21, King is on track for a theatrical release between October and December 2026. Judging by its scale, cast, and ambition, it may very well be one of the most defining projects of Shah Rukh Khan’s illustrious career.
