Kajol is back—and this time, she’s fiercer than ever.
The Bollywood icon is set to enthral audiences in Maa, a mythological horror film that promises an intense blend of divine energy and maternal grit. With the release of the film’s newest track, Kali Shakti, Kajol’s powerful transformation into a mother invoking the wrathful energy of Goddess Kali has become the talk of the town.
Sung by legendary vocalist Usha Uthup, Kali Shakti showcases Kajol in a striking avatar—her eyes ablaze with rage, her presence commanding, and her performance embodying the fearless essence of a mother willing to battle the supernatural to protect her child. The song, a dramatic and spiritual invocation, adds a fresh layer of emotional intensity to the film’s already chilling premise.
But even amid all the drama and divine fury, it was Kajol’s daughter, Nysa Devgan, who brought a dash of humour to the moment. Soon after the music video was released, Nysa took to Instagram Stories to share the clip with a cheeky caption:
“When she comes home from work and I’m still sleeping @kajol.”
The playful jab didn’t go unnoticed. Kajol, known for her wit and warmth off-screen, re-shared the post with the caption:
“Definitely my daughter,” followed by a string of laughing emojis.
The mother-daughter banter instantly went viral, with fans loving the blend of reel-life intensity and real-life relatability.
Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa is a gripping tale that merges mythology, horror, and emotional drama. Produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, and Kumar Mangat Pathak, the film is presented by Jio Studios in association with Devgn Films. It tells the story of a mother caught in a harrowing battle against an ancient curse that haunts a remote village. With her daughter’s life hanging in the balance, the protagonist turns to the fierce energy of Goddess Kali, channeling divine power through maternal love.
With Kajol at the helm of this supernatural saga, Maa is already generating high anticipation for its release. Her intense screen presence, coupled with the spiritual undertones of Kali Shakti, is a compelling reminder of how cinema can capture both the terrifying and transcendent sides of motherhood.
As the film gears up for its theatrical release, one thing is clear: Kajol is set to redefine the horror genre with a performance that’s equal parts rage, reverence, and raw emotion—and thanks to Nysa, fans are also reminded that behind the divine fury is a mom who still has to deal with her daughter sleeping in.
