As conversations about work-life balance gain momentum in the entertainment industry, Genelia D’Souza has offered her thoughts on managing long hours on film sets while balancing her personal life.
In a recent interview with Zoom, the actress acknowledged that she often works 10-hour days, with occasional extensions depending on production needs. “It is tough, but not impossible,” she said. “There are days when the director might ask for 11 or 12 hours. I believe that’s fair, as long as there’s time to adjust. If it happens occasionally, it becomes part of the collaborative process.”
Her comments come amid ongoing discussions around acceptable working hours for actors, following reports that Deepika Padukone exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit over the filmmaker’s refusal to limit shoots to an eight-hour day. The incident has reignited debate within the industry about boundaries, expectations, and professional well-being.
Taking a balanced view, Genelia emphasized the importance of flexibility. “It’s about understanding and compromise,” she explained. “If longer hours aren’t the daily norm, we can make it work.”
Genelia is gearing up for her return to the silver screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, an upcoming sports comedy-drama featuring Aamir Khan. Slated for a theatrical release on June 20, Sitaare Zameen Par not only marks a new project for Genelia but also shines a spotlight on fresh talent and heartfelt storytelling—adding a new dimension to her evolving career.
