Don 3 controversy deepens as FWICE steps in after Ranveer Singh’s sudden exit

The controversy surrounding Don 3 has deepened after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) stepped in to address the dispute involving Ranveer Singh, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani. The matter reportedly reached the federation after Ranveer Singh exited the project shortly before filming was set to begin.

FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit called the situation a serious issue for the Hindi film industry. Speaking about the matter, he stated that actors withdrawing from projects at the last moment could create instability within the business and negatively affect film productions. He also confirmed that the federation is currently holding internal discussions before announcing its final decision.

According to Ashoke Pandit, the federation’s main concern is protecting the larger interests of the industry. He reportedly said that allowing such incidents to become common practice could put producers at risk and disrupt future projects. He added that FWICE would take a decision that is fair and beneficial for the industry as a whole.

Reports indicate that the board’s verdict could go against Ranveer Singh. As per industry sources quoted by Mid-day, federation members are worried that last-minute exits by actors may become a dangerous trend, especially for smaller producers who may not be financially equipped to handle such losses. Sources also claimed that sudden changes close to a film’s schedule can lead to major financial setbacks.

The issue reportedly began in December 2025 when Ranveer Singh walked out of Don 3 after being associated with the project for nearly two years. Reports suggested that creative differences and script-related concerns may have influenced the actor’s decision to leave the film.

Following his exit, Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, reportedly claimed that a significant amount had already been spent on the film’s pre-production. Industry reports further stated that the production house sought compensation of around Rs 40 crore from the actor after his departure from the project.

Don 3 was officially announced in 2024, with Ranveer Singh introduced as the new face of the franchise. His first-look teaser had generated considerable excitement among fans. Actress Kiara Advani was later cast as the female lead, replacing Priyanka Chopra Jonas from the earlier instalments. However, after Ranveer’s sudden exit, the future of the much-awaited film remains uncertain.
