Jr NTR is on the road to recovery after suffering a shoulder injury while filming an action sequence for his much-awaited film ‘Dragon’. The actor underwent successful arthroscopic shoulder surgery in the second week of August and is currently undergoing physiotherapy as part of a structured rehabilitation programme.
Doctors had advised the actor to take four to six weeks of rest following the surgery. While he has reportedly almost recovered and received medical clearance, Jr NTR is yet to resume active filming. According to reports, he could return to the sets in October, when he is expected to complete the remaining high-voltage action portions.
The injury also forced the makers to postpone the planned Sri Lanka schedule and rearrange the shooting plan. However, reports of the film being put on hold were dismissed. Director Prashanth Neel has continued production by filming childhood portions and sequences that do not involve Jr NTR.
The makers are working towards the film’s scheduled June 11, 2027 theatrical release, although completing the remaining portions within the timeline remains a challenge.
‘Dragon’ has already generated considerable buzz. Jr NTR plays Luger, the Assassin-in-Chief of the Afghan Trading Company, in the gritty 1960s period drama centred around the dark opium trade. His intense physical transformation has also drawn attention.
The pan-India cast includes Anil Kapoor and Rukmini Vasanth, while action schedules across Africa and Hyderabad have further raised expectations around the film.
