Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s much-awaited action thriller Haiwaan finally arrived in theatres on September 11, 2026. Directed as a grim crime thriller, the film brings the two actors together in a story filled with murder, revenge and survival.
The narrative follows Shyam, played by Saif Ali Khan, a blind caretaker who finds himself framed for a crime he did not commit. Shyam works for retired judge Pradhan, portrayed by Boman Irani, helping him with his everyday needs. However, their lives take a dark turn when Parshuram, played by Akshay Kumar, brutally murders the judge and leaves Shyam fighting for survival.
With the killer now targeting Pradhan’s young granddaughter, Shyam takes on the responsibility of protecting her while attempting to clear his own name. The film combines an intense storyline with action-driven sequences and a dark atmosphere.
At the box office, Haiwaan registered a decent opening on Friday. According to the available figures, the film collected Rs 3.6 crore in India on Day 1. The opening comes amid considerable competition from other theatrical releases, including Epic – First Semester and Fall 2: Deadpoint. The film is also competing with OTT titles released on the same day, including Ghamasaan on ZEE5 and The Revolutionaries on Prime Video. There is currently no confirmed update regarding Haiwaan’s OTT release date.
September is shaping up to be a busy month for crime thrillers, with Love Lottery scheduled for September 18 and PRIMETIME arriving on September 25. Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, will also release on September 18.
