Bhooth Bangla OTT Details: Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan Film to Stream on Netflix in June?

With Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar steps back into the horror-comedy genre, reuniting with filmmaker Priyadarshan after a long gap. The film has opened in theatres and is already drawing attention for its nostalgic tone and ensemble cast, while details about its OTT release have also started to emerge.

The makers have confirmed that Netflix has secured the digital rights, with the platform’s association revealed in the film’s opening credits. Although an official premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, industry trends indicate a typical 45 to 60-day window between theatrical and digital release. Based on this, the film is expected to arrive on Netflix around June 2026.

The story revolves around Arjun Acharya, played by Akshay Kumar, a London-based man grappling with financial struggles. His fortunes seem to take a turn when he inherits a sprawling palace in a small Indian town. Planning to make the most of the opportunity, he decides to host his sister’s long-delayed wedding at the property.

However, the palace is steeped in unsettling lore. A long-standing legend claims that no bride survives in the town, casting a shadow over the celebrations. As preparations get underway, a series of eerie incidents begin to disrupt the festivities—ranging from ghostly sightings to inexplicable disturbances—leaving the family questioning whether the myth is rooted in truth.

The film boasts a strong ensemble cast, featuring Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and the late Asrani alongside Tabu, Jisshu Sengupta, Wamiqa Gabbi, Mithila Palkar, Manoj Joshi, and Rajesh Sharma.

Early audience reactions have been mixed. While some viewers have appreciated the film’s blend of humour and supernatural elements, others have pointed out its reliance on familiar genre tropes. Even so, the performances and Priyadarshan’s signature comedic style have resonated with a section of the audience.

Until its digital premiere is officially announced, Bhooth Bangla continues its theatrical run, offering viewers a mix of chills and laughs on the big screen.
