The much-anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh is officially on its way. Titled Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer will now release in theatres on May 15, 2026, the makers confirmed. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film promises a fresh comedic twist with an intriguing new setup. Alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, the sequel features a dynamic trio of leading ladies—Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi—marking a significant shift from the original film’s narrative structure.
A Fresh Pairing and a New Comic Twist
One of the key highlights of the sequel is the first-time on-screen pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan. The film also introduces a three-heroine dynamic, adding layers of chaos and humour to the storyline.
Khurrana steps into the role of Prajapati Pandey, a character that appears to be caught in a hilariously complicated situation involving three women. The makers unveiled the first-look poster, teasing the film’s quirky tone. In the poster, Khurrana is seen trapped in a net held by the three female leads, symbolising his predicament. Adding to the eccentricity, he is seated beside a cheetah, hinting at the film’s wild and unpredictable narrative.
The caption accompanying the poster reads: “Shikari khud hogaya shikaar! Ab jaal mein phas gaye humare Prajapati Pandey. Ho jao #PatiPatniAurWohDo ke liye taiyaar! In cinemas 15th May 2026.”
Backed by Major Production Houses
The film is backed by prominent banners, with T-Series and B R Studios producing the project, while Zee Studios
is handling its distribution. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Renu Ravi Chopra, the film also has Juno Chopra on board as the creative producer, ensuring continuity with the franchise’s legacy.
Originally slated for a March 2026 release around Holi, the film has now been postponed to mid-May. The new release date positions it as a summer entertainer, a slot often associated with high footfall and family audiences. Director Mudassar Aziz, who helmed the first instalment, returns to continue the franchise’s signature blend of situational comedy and relationship drama.
The 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh starred Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday, and was a commercial success. The sequel aims to build on that popularity while offering a new storyline, fresh casting, and heightened comedic stakes.
