The trailer of Don’t Be Shy has been unveiled, offering audiences a first glimpse into the coming-of-age romantic comedy backed by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt’s production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions. Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film promises a youthful story about friendship, first love, heartbreak and finding one’s identity.
The film follows Shyamili “Shy” Das, a 20-year-old who believes she has her future mapped out, only to discover that life has other plans. As she navigates unexpected situations, relationships and emotions, Shy gradually begins to understand herself and the complexities of growing up.
One of the film’s biggest talking points is its decision to cast four newcomers in the lead roles. Aarushi Bajaj plays Shy, while Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal portray Mayank, Tara and Dhruv, respectively. Veteran performers including Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik feature in supporting roles.
Speaking about the project, Alia Bhatt expressed excitement over the young ensemble, highlighting their energy, vulnerability and chemistry. She said the cast brings honesty and freshness to their characters and expressed hope that audiences connect with Shy’s chaotic yet relatable journey.
Alia and Shaheen also described Don’t Be Shy as a deeply special project, saying it explores the friendships, first loves and heartbreaks that shape young adulthood while capturing the gradual process of discovering who one truly is.
The project marks Alia Bhatt’s first feature film production collaboration with Prime Video, following her role as executive producer on the series Poacher.
Don’t Be Shy will premiere globally on Prime Video on September 25, in Hindi with English subtitles, across India and more than 240 countries and territories.
