As summer celebrations begin to take over dining tables across the country, Burma Burma is bringing the vibrant spirit of Myanmar’s New Year festivities to India with a specially curated Thingyan Festive Menu. Inspired by the warmth of Burmese Lunch Houses and the joy of gathering over comforting meals, the limited-edition menu will be available from May 1 to 31, 2026 across all Burma Burma outlets in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
Celebrated as Burma’s traditional New Year festival, Thingyan — also known as the Water Festival — symbolises cleansing, renewal and fresh beginnings. Across Myanmar, families and friends come together during the festivities to enjoy generous meals packed with bold, comforting flavours. Capturing this celebratory essence, Burma Burma has designed a menu that recreates the bustling energy of Burmese street markets and community dining experiences.
At the centre of the festive spread are the indulgent Thingyan Rice Bowls, thoughtfully crafted for sharing. Each bowl combines fragrant rice preparations with rich curries, wok-tossed vegetables, crunchy accompaniments and flavourful chutneys inspired by authentic Burmese home-style cooking.
Among the highlights is the Mohinga Rice Bowl, inspired by Myanmar’s iconic national dish. Aromatic jasmine rice infused with lemongrass, ginger and shallots is paired with pumpkin and peanut curry, soy-garlic vegetables and tofu parcels, offering layers of warmth and comfort. The Hawker’s Rice Bowl channels the vibrant flavours of Burmese street food with chilli oil and tamarind-tossed rice, spicy tofu curry and crunchy corn parcels. For those who enjoy smoky, rustic flavours, the Rustic Rice Bowl draws inspiration from open-fire village cooking, while the Pickled Roselle Bowl introduces tangy fermented notes balanced with coconut curry and brined tofu stir-fry.
Beyond the rice bowls, the menu features an array of street-style small plates that reflect the lively charm of Burmese food stalls. Guests can begin their meal with New Year Parcels stuffed with soy-seasoned cabbage and sprouts salad tucked into delicate tofu pockets. Street-style Rice Crêpes arrive with pea shoot salad, peanut-coconut sauce and chilli oil, while the Palata Sando gives the classic sandwich a Burmese twist with flaky palata layered around mock-meat and radish salad.
Seasonal salads also bring freshness to the menu, including the Crunchy Shiitake & Radish Salad with batter-fried mushrooms and tamarind chilli oil, alongside the vibrant Summer Salad featuring grapefruit, sweet lime, pickled ginger and plum dressing.
To complete the festive feast, Burma Burma has introduced a playful dessert selection inspired by traditional Burmese sweets. Banana Bliss reimagines the beloved Ngapyaw Baung with banana mousse, caramel and chilled coconut milk, while Mango Sesame Cake draws inspiration from the classic jaggery-based Bein Mont dessert with layers of mango, sesame, coconut and hibiscus. Every table also receives a refreshing serving of Paan Jelly infused with rose and betel leaf as a sweet ending to the meal.
The festive beverage menu captures the cooling flavours of Burmese summers. Guests can sip on creations like the Pandan Tamarind Fizz, Hibiscus Lemonade, Mango Picante and Ice Plum Soda, each blending tropical ingredients with sweet, sour and spicy notes.
Adding to the immersive celebration are interactive in-restaurant experiences inspired by Burmese street markets. Guests can explore handcrafted fruit leathers in flavours like raw mango and kokum, pineapple and coconut, and tamarind with chilli salt. An in-house popsicle station with a fortune spin wheel adds an element of fun, offering treats inspired by Burmese ingredients and summer fruits.
Decorated with festive flowers and vibrant colours, Burma Burma’s outlets aim to recreate the atmosphere of lively Burmese Lunch Houses. The experience is further enhanced with traditional Burmese hand-wash rituals and Thanaka application, bringing diners closer to the spirit of Thingyan.
