Varun Dhawan Unveils Intense First Look from ‘Border 2’

Actor Varun Dhawan has set the internet ablaze with his intense first look from Border 2, the much-awaited sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 war drama Border. The poster, unveiled on Wednesday, showcases Varun in a rugged, battle-worn avatar — face streaked with dust and determination, rifle in hand, charging fearlessly into combat.

In the film, Varun steps into the role of Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya, a soldier remembered for his extraordinary courage during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. A recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour, Singh’s bravery forms the emotional and patriotic core of the film.

Sharing the poster on Instagram, Varun wrote, “देश का फ़ौजि (The soldier of the nation), Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya. #Border2 in cinemas 23rd January, 2026.” The caption, paired with the actor’s fierce expression in the image, perfectly captures the spirit of sacrifice and valour the film aims to honour.

Helmed by Anurag Singh and backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 boasts a stellar ensemble cast that includes Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. The film is set to release on January 23, 2026, perfectly timed to make the most of the Republic Day weekend.

The announcement was met with overwhelming excitement from fans, who flooded social media with praise for Varun’s look.

The original Border, directed by J.P. Dutta, remains one of India’s most beloved war films. Featuring an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, and Tabu, it was based on the Battle of Longewala and became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 1997, earning over ₹600 million worldwide.

For Varun Dhawan, who was last seen in Shashank Khaitan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and made a cameo in Thamma as Bhediya, Border 2 marks a striking shift in tone — one that highlights his versatility and passion for taking on challenging roles.

With its patriotic theme, stellar cast, and emotional depth, Border 2 is poised to be one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026 — a film that promises to reignite the pride and power of India’s most iconic war saga.
