The Raja Saab Teaser: Prabhas Steps Into a Haunted Haveli for Horror-Comedy

The wait is finally over! The teaser for The Raja Saab, the much-anticipated horror-comedy starring Prabhas in a never-before-seen avatar, was unveiled on Monday—sending fans into a frenzy. Directed by Maruthi, the film promises a delightful blend of romance, laughter, and spine-chilling thrills, set against the backdrop of a colossal haunted haveli.

A Glimpse Into the Supernatural

The teaser introduces audiences to a ghost-ridden palace steeped in mystery, gold, and a stubborn spirit—The Raja—who is unwilling to let anyone lay claim to his buried treasure. With a mix of spooky visuals and quirky comedy, the film marks a refreshing shift for Prabhas, who returns to a lighter, more playful role after years of intense action dramas.

Prabhas’ character is shown as a cheerful romantic, professing his love for Nidhhi Agerwal’s character with a Bollywood-style flair—going as far as to say he loves her “like Shah Rukh Khan” in the Hindi version of the teaser. Meanwhile, Malavika Mohanan’s character seems dangerously obsessed with him, adding another twist to the already chaotic tale. Riddhi Kumar rounds out the cast, adding intrigue to the ensemble.

India’s Biggest Horror Set

What truly sets The Raja Saab apart is its stunning production design. The film’s team recently revealed that they constructed a massive 41,256 sq. ft. haveli set—hailed as the largest horror-themed set ever built in India. Designed by acclaimed art director Rajeevan Nambiar, the set was crafted to be more than just visually striking.

From creaking wooden floors and eerie corridors to intricate carvings and dusty chandeliers, the haunted mansion is a character in itself, heightening the film’s atmospheric tension.

Maruthi’s Comic-Horror Touch

Director Maruthi, known for youthful entertainers like Ee Rojullo and Kotha Janta, rose to critical acclaim with films like Bhale Bhale Magadivoy and Mahanubhavudu. After his 2022 outing Pakka Commercial, The Raja Saab marks a return to his roots, blending humour with heartfelt storytelling and supernatural suspense.

What’s Next?

Originally scheduled to release on April 10, The Raja Saab was delayed due to production scale and scheduling, but will now hit theatres on December 5, 2025. The buzz around the film is palpable, especially with fans excited to see Prabhas step into a more whimsical role after his recent intense outings in Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire and Kalki 2898 AD.

With a stellar cast, a gripping premise, and what’s touted to be India’s biggest horror set, The Raja Saab is shaping up to be a must-watch this December.
