ALTBalaji and ZEE5 recently announced their upcoming project, ‘The Married Woman’ based on renowned author Manju Kapur’s bestseller novel ‘A Married Woman’.
After a striking glimpse of the teaser released recently, the makers have unveiled the show’s exciting character posters!
‘The Married Woman’ features Ridhi Dogra and Monica Dogra as the central characters and notable talents including Imaad Shah, Divya Seth Shah, Nadira Babbar, and Suhas Ahuja, among others. Unveiling the posters, the makers shared Ridhi, Monica, Imaad, and Suhas’ character posters with their many shades of respective characters—Astha, Peeplika, Aijaz, and Hemant.
The makers shared the posters on their social media, explaining what makes each character different with their character traits and thoughts popping out all over their faces. While Astha is “a wife, a mom, a teacher, a homemaker, she’s played all the roles, but what about her? Who is she as a person?
Peeplika is “a woman who burns fiercely, for art, for humanity, for love. She is impulsive, brave, bold, most importantly, free from the conditioning of society. In love, she chooses soul and not gender”.
Hemant, being played by Suhas, is “a good husband, son, father… patriarchal and proud. Broadminded: after all he allows his wife to work. Progressive to the boot, Hemant charts new territories in his business, but alas, has no understanding of the uncharted waters of his wife’s mind. As a husband and partner, Hemant has ignored many of her inner needs for too long… Now unknowingly it is he who pushes Astha to find herself”.
Aijaz being essayed by Imaad Shah “believes that boundaries exist so that one can blur them. For the world to cross them. A Sufi soul, a carefree artist, Aijaz does not believe that the world can define him as THEY wish; he is limitless. He urges Astha to break free and seek her individuality.”
The Married Woman marks another progressive and pathbreaking piece of content that continues the home-grown streaming giants’ legacy. The posters and characters leave us with the question- What is love? ‘A Married Woman’ is an urban, relationship drama about women and their conditioning levied by society and her search to find herself.
The streaming platforms also recently launched a heart-warming video featuring the celebrated author Manju Kapur. In the video, she narrates her journey as a writer and throws light on the issues faced by a married woman in the nineties and how it is still relevant in 2021.
‘The Married Woman’ will be streaming on 8th March only on ALTBalaji and ZEE5.
