Veteran actor Sunny Deol continues to prove that age is no barrier when it comes to delivering powerful performances on the big screen. Riding high on the remarkable success of his latest release Border 2, the actor has already stepped into his next major project, an action-packed thriller titled Antony. The film marks yet another ambitious venture in a career that has recently seen a strong resurgence at the box office.
Antony is being produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment, in collaboration with filmmaker A. R. Murugadoss’ production house. The film is directed by debutant Balaji Ganesh, a Chennai-based filmmaker who previously worked as an assistant director on several projects with Murugadoss. With an experienced production team and a fresh directorial voice, the film aims to deliver a gripping, high-energy cinematic experience.
Adding further intrigue to the project is the casting of Vijay Varma as the primary antagonist. Known for his strong screen presence and layered performances, Vijay’s face-off with Sunny Deol is expected to be one of the most compelling aspects of the film. Actor Jyotika is also reported to be playing a key role in the story.
According to reports, filming for Antony began on February 27 in Mumbai. The production schedule is expected to continue over the next few months, with the shoot likely to conclude by July 2026. The makers are reportedly eyeing an early 2027 theatrical release for the action thriller.
The new project arrives at a time when Sunny Deol is enjoying one of the most successful phases of his career. His recent film Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, has emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2026. The war drama, inspired by the events surrounding the 1971 India–Pakistan conflict, has reportedly crossed ₹327 crore at the domestic box office and approached ₹450 crore worldwide within just over a month of its release.
Looking ahead, the year 2026 appears especially busy for the actor, with several films lined up for release. His upcoming project Gabru, directed by Shashank Udapurkar, is scheduled to arrive in theatres on May 8, 2026. This will be followed by Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, which is expected to release during the Independence Day weekend.
Later in the year, Sunny Deol will also appear in the mythological epic Ramayana Part 1 directed by Nitesh Tiwari, where he is set to portray the powerful character of Lord Hanuman. The film is planned for a Diwali release, making it one of the most anticipated projects of the year.
With multiple high-profile films on the horizon and a strong box-office run behind him, Sunny Deol’s upcoming slate suggests that the veteran actor is firmly in the midst of an exciting new chapter in his cinematic journey.
