The Indian film and television industry is in mourning following the passing of veteran actor Satish Shah, who died on October 25 at Hinduja Hospital due to kidney failure. Shah, a beloved figure known for his impeccable comic timing, was admitted to the hospital the same morning. His passing was confirmed by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who also shared that his last rites will be held at his Bandra residence.
The news of Shah’s untimely demise prompted an outpouring of grief from Bollywood and beyond, coming on the heels of recent losses in the industry, including the passing of actor Asrani and advertising legend Piyush Pandey.
Several actors recalled their fond memories of working with Shah. Ameesha Patel, who shared screen space with him in her debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, wrote, “Really saddened to hear this heartbreaking news. Fine actor but finer human being. Om Shanti.” Kajol, his co-star in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, added, “Gone too soon, but your laughter will echo forever, rest in peace Satish Ji.”

Director Karan Johar posted a tribute on Instagram with the simple words: “Om Shanti.” Actor Rajpal Yadav expressed his grief with a broken heart emoji, writing, “Satish bhai, you’ll be missed. Om Shanti.”
R. Madhavan shared a laughter-filled photograph of himself with Shah and Mandira Bedi, adding, “The heavens will be a merrier and happier place now… A void that can never be filled. Rest in eternal peace, Satish Ji. OM Shanti.” Choreographer Farah Khan said, “Rest in peace. Dearest Satish, you were a joy to know and work with. Will miss you sending me memes and jokes every day.”
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar described his shock, stating, “He entertained us with diverse roles and outstanding performances. My deepest condolences to his family and admirers.”
