A candid photograph from the set of Salman Khan’s forthcoming war drama, Battle of Galwan, has ignited excitement across social media. Shared by a fan on Instagram, the image captures Salman Khan and Chitrangda Singh in Indian Army fatigues, smiling for a quick selfie amidst the rugged backdrop of the film’s location. This behind-the-scenes glimpse offers audiences their first informal look at the actors in uniform, fully immersed in their roles.
The shoot for Battle of Galwan has been extensive. Salman Khan completed a 45-day, start-to-finish schedule in Leh, Ladakh, by mid-September, before transitioning into the final phase of production from mid-October. Filming is expected to wrap up toward the end of November. Interest in the project has been high ever since the first-look poster dropped on July 4, revealing Salman in a blood-smeared, mustachioed avatar, hinting at the film’s gritty tone.
In the film, Salman Khan plays Colonel B Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who led his troops during the deadly Galwan Valley clash in June 2020. The confrontation at the Line of Actual Control between Indian and Chinese forces resulted in the loss of 20 Indian soldiers, while China also suffered significant casualties. Battle of Galwan recreates the raw, hand-to-hand combat that unfolded during a tense period overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by a chapter from India’s Most Fearless 3 by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, a bestselling chronicle of remarkable bravery within the Indian armed forces. The narrative seeks to convey the courage, strategy, and emotional stakes behind one of the most talked-about military confrontations of recent times.
Battle of Galwan is expected to hit theatres in 2026. Salman Khan, last seen in Sikandar, is currently gearing up for the grand finale of Bigg Boss 19 on December 7.
