Actress Mrunal Thakur has officially begun shooting for director Atlee’s much-anticipated film, tentatively titled AA22XA6, starring Allu Arjun in the lead. The project, backed by Sun Pictures, is shaping up to be one of the biggest films in both actors’ careers, combining high-end VFX, intense action, and a larger-than-life narrative.
According to sources, Mrunal plays one of the pivotal roles in the film alongside Deepika Padukone, who headlines as the main leading lady. The actress recently joined the shoot in Mumbai, where the team has been filming at a specially designed VFX studio. “It’s an intense action episode, and Mrunal is already shooting alongside Allu Arjun in this schedule,” revealed a source close to the production.
The film’s Mumbai schedule is said to be extensive, stretching over 130 days. Several international technicians have also been brought in to work on the project’s advanced visual effects and action design, reflecting Atlee’s vision of mounting a global-scale production.
AA22XA6 marks Allu Arjun’s first collaboration with Atlee and also his first time portraying a dual role. The actor will reportedly be seen as a warrior in a parallel universe — a character that demanded a major physical transformation. To prepare for the part, Allu Arjun trained under celebrity fitness coach Lloyd Stevens.
Described as a sci-fi action thriller, the film will explore futuristic themes with cutting-edge technology at its core, making heavy use of VFX and AI. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film is expected to push the boundaries of Indian commercial cinema.
An official announcement regarding Mrunal’s casting was initially planned a few months ago but was delayed. However, with the actress now on set and filming key sequences, an official confirmation from the makers is expected soon.
With Atlee at the helm and a powerful combination of Allu Arjun, Deepika Padukone, and Mrunal Thakur leading the cast, AA22XA6 is fast becoming one of the most anticipated films in production right now.
