Mahesh Babu is set to lend his voice to the character of Mufasa in the Telugu version of Disney’s upcoming film, Mufasa: The Lion King. This marks a significant addition to the highly anticipated movie, directed by Barry Jenkins, which is slated for a December 20 release across India in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Expressing his excitement, Mahesh Babu shared, “Disney’s legendary storytelling has always captivated me, and Mufasa is a character that embodies both the nurturing father and the majestic king. This project is especially meaningful to me as it allows me to share a memorable experience with my family. I’m eagerly anticipating the release and can’t wait for my fans to experience Mufasa in Telugu on the big screen.”
The Telugu version will also feature Brahmanandam voicing Pumbaa and Ali as Timon, adding a local touch to the beloved characters. The Telugu trailer is set to premiere on August 26 at 11:07 AM.
Shah Rukh Khan, known for his voice work in the Hindi version of The Lion King (2019), will reprise his role as Mufasa, with his sons Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan joining as Simba and young Mufasa, respectively. This film will introduce audiences to both new and familiar faces, blending live-action techniques with photorealistic CGI.
The English-language cast includes Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka, and Tiffany Boone as Sarabi, among others. Mufasa: The Lion King will explore the legend of Mufasa, focusing on his rise to prominence and his journey with a diverse group of characters.
On the work-front, Shah Rukh Khan, who has had a stellar year with the successes of Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, will next be seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s King, with rumors suggesting his daughter Suhana Khan might also appear in the film. Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu, who was last seen in the hit Guntur Kaaram, is preparing for his role in SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated project, tentatively titled SSMB29.
