Karishma Tanna to Star Alongside Khushi Kapoor in Emotional Sequel to Sridevi’s ‘Mom’

The celebrated 2017 film Mom, which earned Sridevi a posthumous National Award, is getting a sequel — and this time, it brings together Karishma Tanna and Khushi Kapoor in leading roles.

According to sources close to the production, Mom 2 will not serve as a direct continuation of the original storyline but will draw inspiration from its emotional core — themes of justice, strength, and resilience. The upcoming film aims to present a fresh narrative that reflects contemporary sensibilities while honoring the legacy of the original.

Karishma Tanna, who recently received widespread praise for her powerful performance in the critically acclaimed series Scoop, steps into a commanding role that promises both emotional depth and intensity. Sharing the screen with her will be Khushi Kapoor, whose on-screen presence adds a youthful vibrancy to the story.

Mom 2 is layered, modern, and emotionally charged,” a source revealed. “Karishma’s gravitas complements Khushi’s freshness, creating a dynamic that strengthens the film’s exploration of justice and womanhood.”

The project will be produced by Boney Kapoor, returning as producer after the original, while Girish Kohli — co-writer of Mom and known for his work on Kesari and HIT: The First Case — will take on the directorial role. His transition from writer to director marks a new creative direction for the franchise, with promises of gripping storytelling, complex characters, and high-stakes emotion.

Though still in the early stages of production, the film has already sparked curiosity among audiences and industry insiders alike. The pairing of Karishma and Khushi, both from distinct artistic backgrounds, is being hailed as one of the most interesting casting choices of the year.

With filming underway, Mom 2 is set to revisit the spirit of empowerment and emotional resilience that defined its predecessor — this time, through a fresh lens and a new generation of storytellers. Further details about the film’s release and first look are expected in the coming months.
