Kantara Chapter 1 Roars Past ₹360 Crore Worldwide in Just 5 Days

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is proving to be a box-office juggernaut. After a thunderous opening weekend that saw collections soar past ₹300 crore globally in just four days, the film showed no signs of slowing down on its first Monday. Defying the usual post-weekend dip, Kantara Chapter 1 earned an impressive ₹30 crore on Day 5, reaffirming its massive audience pull and setting new benchmarks for Kannada cinema.

The regional breakdown paints an even more remarkable picture of its pan-India dominance. The Kannada version remains the strongest contributor, clocking ₹11.5 crore on Monday alone. The Telugu version brought in ₹5.5 crore, while the Hindi, Malayalam, and Tamil versions collected ₹8.75 crore, ₹2.75 crore, and ₹2.75 crore respectively.

With this, the film’s five-day worldwide gross stands at an estimated ₹362.75 crore, out of which ₹307 crore comes from the Indian box office. The net domestic collection is pegged at ₹256.5 crore — a staggering feat for a film driven by strong storytelling, rooted culture, and raw emotion rather than star-studded spectacle.

Trade analysts report that Kantara Chapter 1 collected ₹75.85 crore from Karnataka, ₹52.75 crore from the Telugu belt, and ₹82.25 crore from the Hindi market within its first five days. Tamil Nadu and Kerala contributed ₹24.75 crore and ₹20.9 crore respectively. Overseas too, the film’s run has been exceptional, raking in nearly $7 million (₹55.75 crore).

What’s even more remarkable is that Kantara Chapter 1 has now outperformed KGF: Chapter 2’s regional collections in Karnataka. While KGF 2 grossed ₹73.5 crore in its four-day opening weekend, Kantara Chapter 1 has already surpassed it with ₹75 crore, inching closer to the ₹100-crore milestone in the state — a record previously held only by Baahubali 2, KGF 2, and Kantara.

The film’s phenomenal success has once again spotlighted Rishab Shetty’s creative brilliance and his ability to blend mythology, folklore, and raw emotion into an immersive cinematic experience. Exhibitors and distributors across the country are now recalibrating their expectations, as Kantara Chapter 1 redefines what regional cinema can achieve at a national and global scale.

At a time when content-driven cinema is reclaiming the box office, Kantara Chapter 1 stands tall — not merely as a sequel, but as a cultural and cinematic phenomenon that’s uniting audiences beyond language and geography.
