Jemimah Rodrigues Recalls Hilarious Cafe Moment with Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma

Even the most private celebrities have moments that catch the public’s attention—and this one is delightfully heartwarming. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, a couple famed for keeping their personal life under wraps, were recently revealed to have spent over four hours chatting with Indian cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana during a trip to New Zealand.

Rodrigues shared the amusing incident during her appearance on The Bombay Journey on Mashable India’s YouTube channel. According to her, what began as a simple conversation about batting soon turned into an extended discussion, with Anushka joining in and the group completely losing track of time. “It felt like a few long-lost friends who met and spoke,” Rodrigues recalled, highlighting the natural, easygoing vibe of the gathering.

The chat, which started with cricket strategies, gradually flowed into life stories and casual banter, so much so that the cafe staff had no choice but to politely ask the group to leave. “We only stopped because the café staff eventually asked us to leave,” Rodrigues laughed, reliving the memorable experience.

One of the standout moments for Rodrigues was Virat’s words of encouragement. “You both have the power to change women’s cricket, and I can see that happening,” he told Rodrigues and Mandhana—words that left a lasting impression on the young cricketers.

Virat and Anushka, who first met in 2013 and tied the knot in Italy in 2017, now focus on raising their two children, daughter Vamika and son Akaay, while continuing to maintain the privacy they’re known for. Yet, this story offers a rare glimpse into the warmth and humility that define the couple beyond the public eye—a reminder that even stars can connect over shared passions and genuine conversation.
