Is a Saiyaara Sequel on the Cards? Here’s What Mohit Suri Says

Following the phenomenal success of Saiyaara, which marked the acting debuts of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, speculation quickly grew about a possible sequel. The romantic drama earned both critical acclaim and massive commercial success, grossing over ₹500 crore globally and setting a record as the highest-earning Indian love story to date.

Remarkably, the film achieved this without the usual heavy promotional push. Instead, it thrived on strong word-of-mouth and a soundtrack that struck a chord with listeners worldwide—the title song even making it to Billboard’s global charts. Its heartfelt narrative, fresh on-screen pairing, and music-first appeal reshaped how Bollywood views debut films, while also fuelling industry discussions about the balance between star power and fresh talent.

Director Mohit Suri, however, appears in no hurry to revisit the story. Speaking to Faridoon Shahryar, he remarked, “It’s ultimately the producer’s decision. I’ve done my share of sequels and wish them well. But I think Adi feels that if a film becomes a classic, we shouldn’t risk diminishing its charm with a follow-up.”

While he hasn’t entirely ruled it out, Suri’s words indicate that producer Aditya Chopra would rather protect Saiyaara’s enduring appeal than gamble on a continuation that might lessen its emotional weight.

Having directed successful sequels like Murder 2 and Aashiqui 2—both celebrated for their music and emotional resonance—as well as more polarising ones like Ek Villain Returns and Raaz: The Mystery Continues, Suri knows the unpredictable nature of follow-ups.

For now, it appears Saiyaara will stand on its own—a modern classic whose magic remains undisturbed.
