Hema Malini Shares Health Update on Dharmendra, Says He’s Under Observation

Veteran actor Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most beloved icons, has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Reports of the 88-year-old star being on ventilator support had sparked widespread concern among fans and well-wishers. His wife, actress and politician Hema Malini, has now issued an update on his condition, assuring that he is “under observation and continuously monitored.”

Sharing a recent picture of the actor, Hema Malini expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern, writing: “I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery.”

Several members of the Deol family — including Hema Malini, Sunny Deol, Tanya Deol, and Karan Deol — were seen visiting the hospital. Salman Khan was also spotted arriving to check on the veteran actor, reflecting the deep respect and affection Dharmendra commands within the film fraternity.

This development comes just over a week after false rumours about the actor’s health had circulated online. The family has since urged fans and media outlets to rely solely on verified updates.

A towering figure in Indian cinema, Dharmendra’s career spans more than six decades, with over 300 films to his name.  The veteran star is next slated to appear in Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan — a project that has already generated anticipation among audiences eager to see him back on screen.

As the nation collectively sends prayers for his recovery, Dharmendra continues to embody the spirit of resilience that has defined both his cinematic and personal journey.
