Farhan Akhtar Pauses Don 3 Casting, Shifts Focus to Jee Le Zaraa

Filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar has decided to temporarily shift focus from Don 3 to prioritise one of his most awaited passion projects, Jee Le Zaraa. While speculation around Don 3 continues—especially following Ranveer Singh’s exit—Farhan is taking a measured approach to the iconic franchise, choosing not to rush the casting process.

According to industry sources, Farhan believes that casting the lead for Don 3 is a crucial decision that demands time and precision. Rather than hurrying to fill the role, he is intent on finding an actor who can authentically carry forward the legacy of the franchise. With Don 3 currently at a pause during this casting phase, the filmmaker has reopened discussions around Jee Le Zaraa, a film that has been highly anticipated since its announcement.

Jee Le Zaraa has always held special significance for Farhan, and the current lull in Don 3’s development has provided the right opportunity to revive the project. Conversations have reportedly resumed with the original creative and production teams, with the aim of moving the film closer to production.

The script for Jee Le Zaraa is already finalised, and the primary reason for its delay has been the challenge of aligning the schedules of its three leading stars—Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt. With creative elements firmly in place, the focus now lies on coordinating dates. If scheduling works out, the film is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2026.

Sources indicate that Farhan has personally reconnected with all three actresses and remains optimistic about finding a common window that works for everyone. There is strong interest from all sides, with timing being the only remaining hurdle.

Backed by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, Jee Le Zaraa is widely regarded as the concluding chapter in a beloved trilogy of friendship-driven narratives, following Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The film is also set to reunite the creative trio of Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti, further adding to the excitement surrounding the project.

If all elements align, Jee Le Zaraa could finally move forward, bringing long-awaited news to fans who have been eagerly anticipating this ambitious road-trip drama and the rare on-screen collaboration of three leading women.
