Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is grieving the loss of his cherished French bulldog, Hobbs. The actor and former professional wrestler took to social media on Tuesday to share his sorrow, admitting that the loss has left him feeling “numb.”
In a heartfelt post, Johnson expressed his gratitude for the unconditional love Hobbs brought into his family’s life. “I’ve been numb over this loss, but we’re so grateful for every ounce of pure love he gave our entire family and we’re so grateful he didn’t suffer long as he quietly and bravely left in the night,” he wrote, accompanying the message with a series of nostalgic photos featuring himself and his beloved pet over the years.
Reflecting on the spiritual connection he shared with Hobbs, the Moana 2 star pondered whether his canine companion’s spirit would return to visit him. “One of my favorite songs felt appropriate here, as I wonder what’s going on in his new world, because I know what it’s like in mine. Not sure how spirits work, but come back and visit every once in a while so we can get in trouble and laugh again.”

Johnson adopted Hobbs and his brother Brutus as puppies in 2015, but tragedy struck early when Brutus passed away just weeks later after ingesting a poisonous mushroom in the family’s backyard. Hobbs, named after Johnson’s Fast & Furious character Luke Hobbs, went on to become a loyal companion and even made an appearance in the 2019 action spin-off Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
On the professional front, Johnson was last seen in the holiday-themed action film Red One, currently streaming on Prime Video. Looking ahead, he is set to star in Benny Safdie’s upcoming biographical drama The Smashing Machine, slated for release later this year.
As Johnson continues to process his loss, his fans have poured in messages of support, reminding him that Hobbs’ love and companionship will always remain a cherished memory.
