Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava has taken the Indian box office by storm, becoming the first Hindi film of 2025 to surpass the Rs 300-crore mark. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has amassed a staggering Rs 326.75 crore nett within just 10 days of its release.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and helmed by director Laxman Utekar, Chhaava made a strong debut with Rs 31 crore nett on February 14. The momentum continued through the opening weekend, with earnings of Rs 37 crore on Saturday and Rs 48.5 crore on Sunday.
The film maintained its box office hold during the weekdays, accumulating Rs 102.75 crore between Monday and Thursday. As it entered its second week, Chhaava continued its successful run, collecting Rs 23.5 crore on its second Friday, followed by an impressive Rs 44 crore on Saturday and Rs 40 crore on Sunday.
Chhaava brings to life the story of Maratha warrior king Sambhaji, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal. Rashmika Mandanna plays Maharani Yesubai, while the supporting cast includes Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Rajmata Soyarabai. The film is based on Shivaji Sawant’s acclaimed Marathi novel Chhava and features a powerful soundtrack composed by A.R. Rahman.
As Chhaava continues its triumphant march at the box office, it remains to be seen how it performs in the coming weeks. With its compelling storytelling, stellar performances, and gripping action sequences, the film has firmly established itself as one of the year’s biggest Bollywood successes.
