Ahead of the theatrical release of Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar and Mithila Palkar came together on the sets of the game show Wheel of Fortune, turning the promotional appearance into an entertaining exchange filled with humour and camaraderie.
Welcoming Mithila on stage, Akshay introduced her with a playful nod to her journey from digital fame to mainstream cinema. He remarked that she began her career on the internet and has steadily built a strong filmography- adding, in his trademark style, that she will soon be seen sharing screen space with someone “very well known” to him, before revealing it was himself.
Brother-Sister Dynamic On Screen
Speaking about their collaboration, Akshay clarified that Mithila will not be playing a ghost in the horror comedy despite the film’s title. Instead, she essays the role of his sister. He praised her performance, calling it heartfelt and sincere, and expressed appreciation for the emotional depth she brought to the character.
The actor’s comments confirmed that the film will explore a sibling dynamic at its core, adding an emotional layer to the horror-comedy template.
Behind-the-Scenes Fun and Friendly Rivalry
Mithila, in turn, shared light-hearted anecdotes from the shoot. She jokingly stated that her appearance on the show was an attempt to recover the money she lost to Akshay during games played on set. The banter continued as Akshay revealed that she had lost at least ₹4,000 to him over the course of filming.
He quipped that if she failed to win on the show, they would upgrade from playing Ludo to Judo- a comment that left the audience amused. Their exchange reflected the easy rapport they developed while working together and hinted at the positive atmosphere during production.
Recent Work and Upcoming Release
Akshay Kumar was last seen in Jolly LLB 3, continuing his association with socially tinged commercial entertainers. Mithila Palkar’s recent outing was Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos, where she starred alongside Vir Das.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla blends horror elements with comedy- a genre space the director has successfully navigated in the past. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on April 10, 2026.
With the promotional campaign now underway and the lead pair showcasing strong off-screen chemistry, Bhooth Bangla positions itself as a family entertainer that combines humour, scares and emotional undertones.
