Actor Arshad Warsi, known for his remarkable blend of wit and depth on screen, recently revisited one of the most heart-wrenching chapters of his life — losing both his parents as a teenager. In a candid conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, the Munna Bhai MBBS star spoke about the unimaginable grief and emotional maturity that shaped him at a young age.
Arshad revealed that he was just 14 when tragedy struck twice within a short period, leaving him to navigate life without his parents. His mother, who was battling kidney failure, spent her last days undergoing dialysis. Recalling her final moments, Arshad shared a memory that still weighs heavy on his heart.
“She kept asking me for water, but I kept refusing,” he shared quietly. “The night before she passed, she called out to me once more — and that was the last time. Losing her broke me completely. Back then, I thought I was doing the right thing by following the doctors’ advice, but as I grew older, I realized I should have given her that water. Sometimes, we act out of fear of guilt rather than out of love or understanding for what the other person truly desires.”
After his parents passed away, Arshad’s life took a sudden turn. “We moved from a big house to smaller ones. My father was already going through financial struggles, and after losing both my parents, everything shifted overnight,” he shared. “Initially, I didn’t cry — I felt a sense of responsibility to be strong, to take charge. But a few weeks later, it all came crashing down, and that’s when the weight of it truly hit me,” he reflected, describing how grief often settles in long after the moment has passed.
Despite his early hardships, Arshad’s resilience has continued to define both his life and career. His latest film, Jolly LLB 3, which reunited him with Akshay Kumar, received positive reviews for its blend of courtroom drama, humor, and social commentary. On OTT, he stars in Bhagwat – Chapter One: Raakshas alongside Jitendra Kumar, now streaming on ZEE5.
Looking forward, Arshad is part of the upcoming comedy Masti 4, slated for a November release, and will soon share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in the action-packed thriller King.
Through all his successes, Arshad’s story remains one of strength born from sorrow — a reminder that even in loss, there can be lessons that shape a lifetime.
