Allu Arjun to Play Four Roles in Atlee’s AA22 x A6

Superstar Allu Arjun has always been a risk-taker, but with Atlee’s upcoming AA22 x A6, he’s taking the biggest gamble of his career—and possibly reshaping the way pan-India films are made.

After the historic success of Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun could have opted for a safer, high-octane entertainer to capitalize on his momentum. Instead, he is venturing into uncharted territory with his first multiple-role film, reportedly portraying four generations of the same family—grandfather, father, and two sons—within a single narrative. It’s a creative risk that few leading stars would take, especially at the peak of their careers.

Why This Move Matters

Multiple-role films aren’t new to Indian cinema, but for an actor like Allu Arjun—known for his effortless style and mass-appeal image—slipping into the role of a grandfather while embodying four distinct characters will challenge audience perception and test his range as a performer.

Atlee initially planned for Allu to play a double role while casting other actors for the patriarch characters. However, Allu reportedly insisted on taking on all four roles himself. After a look test, Atlee realized this approach would elevate the cinematic experience, offering audiences “four Allu Arjuns at the price of one ticket.”

If executed well, AA22 x A6 could transform Allu Arjun from a celebrated mass hero into a pan-India performer with critical depth, positioning him alongside actors known for their trans-formative performances.

A Global Film, A Global Vision

Atlee has promised a “global film with visuals like never before,” aligning with Allu Arjun’s ambition to take Telugu cinema to international audiences. With Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Rashmika Mandanna joining the cast, the film is shaping into a cross-industry spectacle with pan-India and global potential.

In a refreshing shift, Rashmika Mandanna, who shared a playful on-screen romance with Allu in Pushpa, will reportedly play the antagonist, locking horns with him for the first time on screen. This fresh dynamic will add another layer of intrigue for audiences.

The Stakes Are High

Currently filming in Mumbai, AA22 x A6 is slated for a 2027 release, reflecting the scale and ambition of the project. Its release will coincide with a period of rapid change in Indian cinema, with global distribution expanding and audience expectations evolving towards spectacle paired with substance.
