Alia Bhatt Shines at Red Sea Film Festival, Wins Golden Globe Horizon Award

Alia Bhatt has made a major global splash at the 5th Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, becoming one of the most celebrated faces at this year’s edition. The actor was honoured with the Golden Globe Horizon Award, a recognition that highlights her evolving international presence and growing influence in global cinema. The festival also dedicated a curated retrospective to her career, charting her journey from Bollywood newcomer to a worldwide name.

Bhatt captivated audiences with two striking looks during the festival. Her first appearance featured a sculpted black dress paired with a minimal stone-studded necklace and stud earrings, black heels and sleek sunglasses—an ensemble that balanced elegance with modern glamour. Later, she stepped out in a yellow body-hugging gown adorned with floral detailing and a flowing train, complemented by wavy hair, soft highlight and defined eyes.

Bhatt also took a moment to look back on her evolution as an actor during a conversation at the festival. Reflecting on her journey from Student of the Year to Highway, she spoke about entering the film industry with unfiltered enthusiasm and a hunger to prove herself. “In those early days, I was far more energetic and buzzing with excitement, trying very hard—which is natural when you’re just beginning,” she said. She described that phase as one marked by constant urgency, where she wanted to be present everywhere, take on everything, and soak in every bit of the filmmaking world.

The festival also honoured legendary actor Rekha, who received the Honouree Award at the screening of the restored version of Umrao Jaan. At the ceremony, Rekha opted for an ivory embroidered sari, while Bhatt chose a floral off-shoulder gown with a graceful, floor-sweeping trail—two looks that stood out at the festival.
