The Bollywood industry woke up to the sad and painful news of the sudden demise of legendary Surekha Sikri. They were still numbed by the passing away of Dilip Kumar and now the sudden demise of Surekha Sikri has added to their pain and grief. Three-time national award-winner, Surekha ji had breathed her last this morning as she succumbed to a Cardiac arrest.

Surekha Sikri sudden demise has left the showbiz industry in a shock. From film fraternity to fans, several Bollywood celebrities took to social media platforms to express grievances and pay their tribute to legendary Sikri ji.

Remembering her theatrical contribution, actor Manoj Bajpayee expressed his grief on the loss. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “Very Sad news !!! One of the greatest talents Surekha Sikri ji passed away leaving behind so many great performances in theatre and cinema!! She was a treat to watch on stage. can’t forget some of those memories of her act in theatre. Great craft and a graceful person!! RIP🙏🙏.”

Sharing some throwback photos of Surekha ji, actor Randeep Hooda payed his tribute. Taking to twitter, he wrote, “Rest in peace  #SurekhaSikri ji 🙏🏽”

He further shared an old video of Surekha ji. In this black and white video, she is seen reciting a poem namely “Phehli si Mohabbat”. Sharing the video, he wrote “मुझसे से पहली सी मोहब्बत मेरे महबूब ना माँग … Faiz by #surekhasikri ji

Rest in Peace 🙏🏽”

Actress Neena Gupta, who a few years back shared a screen with Surekha ji in Badhaai Ho, dropped a heartfelt video on her Instagram space reminiscing memories from her shoot and NSD days with Surekha ji. Gajraj Rao, who essayed the role of Surekha Sikri’s son in ‘Badhaai Ho’, fondly remembered their time together and penned a heartfelt note on his Instagram space for Sikri ji. Sharing photos with her, he wrote, “Making a film is like travelling in a train, where the journey is a destination in itself. You meet all kinds of co-passengers here. Some open up their tiffins and hearts to you, while some guard their luggage and eye you with suspicion..‘Badhaai Ho’ will always be that special train journey which brought me to a new station in life, and I’m truly thankful that we had someone like Surekha ji as the emotional anchor of this ship. She was definitely the youngest at heart on the sets, and had no airs about her stature or endless experience as an actress. Her craft was defined by her years of homework and `riyaaz` as an actress, combined with a child-like enthusiasm.”

Janhvi Kapoor also expressed her grief and dropped a throwback picture of Surekha ji on her Instagram. Sharing the photo in her story, she wrote, “Surekha Mam, a true legend. RIP”

Leaving for her heavenly abode at the age of 75, the actress will be  remembered for her notable contribution and work spread across theatre, television and films. It’s certainly a huge loss for the Indian film industry.
