Valentine’s Day is around the corner, which calls for an extra special date night this Sunday. Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra, the first modern Indian restaurant to introduce elements of molecular gastronomy in Indian cooking, is offering a special Chef’s Tasting Menu, just for the occasion.
Vegetarian diners can begin this indulgent, five-course meal with an Amuse Bouche, followed by a series of Snacks like a modernist Dahi Bada, aerated vada served with sweet yogurt foam, tamarind chutney and gram crisps; Makhana Katori Chaat served in a crispy noodle basket; Panchpuran Crostini, Edamame Ragda; and Farmer’s Staple 4.0, traditional Mangalorean buns made of fermented dough and ripe banana, served with coconut butter.
A Charred Corn Soup with spiced popcorn will follow. Diners will then choose between Starters like Mutter Shammi, Varki Pratha; and Shrooms, a Masala Library signature dish, featuring four different mushrooms tossed with truffle and cream, garnished with enoki mushroom and porcini dust; or Multan Paneer Tikka with Tandoori Pepper Salsa; and Beetroot Chevere Kebab.
A palate-cleansing sorbet will be followed by a choice of Main Course dishes such as Soya Keema Masala Potato Salli; Lasuni Mattar Palak, Tadka Chilli, green peas and spinach flavored with garlic, topped with tadka chilli, spinach, and crisp and dehydrated green peas; or Almond & Waterchestnut Kofta Garam Masala Korma.
Non-vegetarian diners will enjoy a multi-course menu with similar snacks and soup courses to their vegetarian counterparts.
Starters feature choices like Tandoori Prawns, Chingri Foam; and Apple Chicken Tikka with Fennel Apple Salad; or Tandoori Thecha Salmon with Mango Murabba Jhol, filet of salmon marinated with thecha, cooked in a tandoor, served with butter-fried salmon skin and mango Murabba jhol; Braised Lamb Chops with maple & kokum glaze. Main Course dishes include choices like Lobster Pulusu, an Andhra Pradesh-inspired dish prepared with khas khas and coconut-based gravy together with tandoori lobster; Hand-Pulled Butter Chicken with Tomato Makhni; or Mutton Mughlai Ghee Roast with Roasted Nuts.
Side dishes of Indian slices of bread and curry of the day are also a part of the indulgent meal. The Desserts course features Ghever Cheesecake with Rose Caviar.
The Valentine’s Day special menu at Masala Library is available on Sunday, February 14, 2021, only, and is priced at Rs. 5000 plus taxes per couple.
