The handsome hunk Karan Singh Grover has always charmed the audiences with his alluring good looks and charismatic personality. Recently, the handsome actor made headlines for performing daredevil stunts in ALTBalaji’s show BOSS: Baap of special services. The series which also features the beautiful Sagarika Ghatge, promises to be a powerhouse of action, thrills, and adrenaline. Expresso caught them to know more about the series and their character in deep.
Expresso: This is your first work with digital space. Tell us something about this series?
Karan: It’s a wonderful experience. The series BOSS is an abbreviation for Baap of Special Services. Here, my character is someone who is actually pretending to be someone else and why is he doing that is the broad story of the series. My character has so many shades in it and apart from that, the show has everything that we expect of with the thrill, action, comedy and romance. All this is what the series is about.
Sagarika : BOSS: Baap of Special Services is a mystery thriller that unravels the story of Sudhir Kohli, an undercover cop, who is a specialist in solving homicide cases or cases where criminals often go undetected. I portray the character of a cop named Sakshi who heads the special task force in Shimla. Then you have Karan (Sudhir), who is completely opposite to how Sakshi goes about solving the crimes.
Expresso: How do you prepare yourself in this series?
Karan: As an artist, more the roles you take up, different characters you will get to play which will actually help you grow. I try my best to play every single role that is given to me in different ways. If I am told about the back story of the character I am playing, I portray it accordingly else I make it up myself, like how is the character since childhood, what happened to him. All of this is a part of my preparation which helps me understand the character and do justice to it. I asked my director if there is any back story or references of the character I am playing else I will do my research. So he gave me references for two shows and their characters so I went through everything, researched a bit and it’s actually a mix of two characters.
Expresso: What is the difference between the web platform and films?
Karan: Everything has got its own charm, be it web series or films. We cannot really compare it. Apart from that everyone needs entertainment and it comes from both web series and films.
Expresso: Talking about your co-star Sagarika?
Karan: Sagarika is unbeatable when it comes to grace and politeness. She is the real boss of elegance and composure. She is extremely inspiring with her constant hard-work. I hope that the audience loves us and enjoys the series as much as we did.
Expresso: Any upcoming shows that you are looking forward to now?
Sagarika: My Marathi film is releasing called monster football and it is something I am very excited for. Its releasing next month, so that is something I am really looking forward to. It has a strong subject. I love doing things which I look back and feel proud of and be happy.
Expresso: Why did you say yes for this series?
Sagarika: Well Ankush Bhatt, one of the show’s producers, came to me and gave me the gist of the show. All it took was a simple one-liner brief about the series to get me excited and wanting to be part of it.
Expresso: Are you here to stay on the web? What kind of web shows are you looking forward to now?
Sagarika: I would love to do a lot more web shows. I mean I am looking forward to doing more web shows. Because of its great content; the web makes a great platform to work on. And for me, it’s not about doing a web show or a film, because at the end of the day I am an actor and I look at my work. So as long as I get to perform and enjoy my work, I am happy. It doesn’t matter if it’s a web series or films.
